Alcoholic beverages brand, Hard Fizz, is launching its newest Extra Strength flavour for summertime – Hard Fizz Passionfruit. The line follows the success of the brand’s original 4% blend, Passionfruit & Guava, which is among its top three performers.

The Extra Strength version dials up the passionfruit, using real fruit extract and less than eight grams of sugar per can. The new Passionfruit flavour joins the rest of the Extra Strength 6% range – Raspberry, Orange, Grape, Cola and Lemon Lime.

Hard Fizz CEO, Wade Tiller, said the new flavour was a real throwback to the popular passionfruit drinks of yesteryear, and would definitely become a fan favourite.

“It’s got a summery note to it - it’s deliciously sweet but not too heavy, so you could sit on them all afternoon or night,” said Tiller.

“Grammy nominated DJ and Hard Fizz frontman Fisher says it’s his personal favourite – that’s why we’ve put it into production. The RTD category is constantly evolving and becoming more sophisticated – flavour is a must, but it can’t be sugary.”

In the past 12 months, Hard Fizz has generated $12 million in sales, moving three and half million cans and more than one million litres in volume. The company completed a $2.5 million capital raise in June, advised by FMCG advisory company Ranged’s new corporate team.

It also achieved national retail ranging in Coles Liquor in 2023, and in Endeavour Drinks Group early this year.

“Hard Fizz was founded on the ethos of ‘making banging drinks that are better for you’ and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” said Tiller.

“It’s about giving people an experience, so whether it’s lounging around a pool, sundowners on the beach or hyping up to see some of the biggest music acts in the world, Hard Fizz is there.”

Hard Fizz Passionfruit is available in all Liquorland and First Choice Liquor stores throughout Queensland and select retailers nationally, for $26.00 in a four-pack, or $90.00 in a 16-pack.

Packaging News

APCO has released its 2022-23 Australian Packaging Consumption and Recovery Data Report, the second report released this year in line with its commitment to improving timeliness and relevance of data.

The AFGC has welcomed government progress towards implementing clear, integrated and consistent changes to packaging across Australia, but says greater clarity is needed on design standards.

It’s been a tumultuous yet progressive year in packaging in Australia, with highs and lows playing out against a backdrop of uncertainty caused in part by the dangling sword of DCCEEW’s proposed Packaging Reform, and in part by the mounting pressure of rising manufacturing costs.
