Germany-based industrial technology manufacturer, Minebea Intec, has launched its Vistus advanced metal detector, which the company says stands out with its free-fall system and modular design. Minebea will be exhibiting Vistus, along with its other core technologies, at ProPak Indonesia – an international trade event for processing and packaging technologies – from 4-6 September in Jakarta.

Foreign object detection is a central concern in the food and packaging industries, and Minebea’s Vistus free-fall metal detection system is specifically developed for bulk material applications. The modular design also allows for easy integration into existing production facilities.

The sensitive technology enables reliable detection of metallic contaminants in free-falling products, such as powders or granules, before they are further processed or packaged. They are quickly and safely removed from the production process through an automatic reject flap, without interrupting material flow.

Minebea Intec sales director South East Asia, Kevin Yiu, said Vistus impresses with its user-friendly interface, and ensures reduced false rejections due to its precision.

“The metal detector Vistus guarantees maximum product safety through its high sensitivity, precision, and seamless integration into existing production lines,” said Yiu.

Minebea will also showcase its Midrics weighing platform and WMC6 checkweigher at ProPak.

Weighing platforms play a central role in the weighing of heavy loads to ensure product quality, reduce material waste, comply with regulatory requirements, increase production efficiency, and support management through data recording and analysis.

The WMC6 weigh and convey checkweigher is designed for dynamic production environments where speed and accuracy are paramount.

Designed with hygiene in mind, the WMC6 meets international hygiene standards and is easy to clean, making it particularly suitable for the food industry. It fully complies with GLP, GMP, and other international regulatory standards, making it a trusted choice for ensuring product quality and consistency.

“A particular highlight at our booth will be the versatile Midrics weighing platform with load capacities ranging from 3 kg to 3 tonnes, available in durable stainless steel,” said Yiu.

“The scale is equipped with the reliable weighing indicator Midrics and op-tionally offers a battery-operated mode for increased flexibility.”

The Midrics weighing platform adapts to different packaging formats thanks to its modular design, ensuring efficient weight control.

The company aims to support its customers as a partner throughout the entire project planning process, with a goal of maximising the precision and efficiency of production processes whilst offering customised solutions that meet individual requirements.

Minebea Intec products are distributed in Australia by NWI Weighing, and are available online at nwiweighing.com.au, or in-store in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, or Brisbane.

Packaging News

In a collaborative effort, Kimberly-Clark Australia and Woolworths have successfully completed a packaging trial aimed at eliminating the use of secondary plastic packaging for Viva paper towels. The initiative, now set to become standard practice, is projected to save 15 tonnes of plastic annually.

John Cerini has stepped down as CEO of Pro-Pac, with Ian Shannon, who was chief operating officer of the company, taking over the role, and becoming managing director.

Sustainable packaging achievements were recognised at the APCO Annual Awards in Sydney last night. The event celebrated organisations, and individuals, driving change towards the 2025 National Packaging Targets and beyond. PKN was there.
