Processing and packaging company, Syntegon, is showcasing its range of sustainable packaging solutions at Fachpack, the European trade fair for packaging, technology, and processes, to assist food manufacturers in transitioning to more sustainable processes.
Fachpack will take place in Nuremberg from 24-26 September, where Syntegon will be exhibiting its range of solutions, including the VFFS SVX Agile vertical packaging machine, and the Kliklok ACE carton erector.
Syntegon director of sustainability, Torsten Sauer, said with the European Union's Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) taking effect in 2030, sustainable packaging will no longer be just an image decision, but a legal requirement.
“That is why we support manufacturers both in terms of machines and service offerings with our innovative technologies and integrated packaging systems,” said Sauer.
“Our goal is to help them prepare for these new market conditions so that they can make a seamless transition to sustainable, PPWR-compliant packaging.”
SVX Agile
The SVX Agile vertical packaging machine features a patent-pending cross-seal drive which allows it to achieve one of the highest output rates in the industry – even with sustainable packaging materials such as mono-material or paper.
Depending on pouch size and film specifications, the SVX Agile produces up to 300 pouches per minute. At the trade fair booth, the SVX Agile will create pouches from 100 percent recyclable mono-material, which allows manufacturers to save resources during production.
Pack 403
The Pack 403 horizontal flow-wrapper and infeed module is equipped with an innovative paper-ON-form forming shoulder, allowing packaging for bars using recyclable materials. This forming shoulder is available both for new machines and as a retrofit kit for existing Pack 403 flow-wrappers.
Brand owners can switch from plastic film to paper without sacrificing performance. In addition, the paper-ON-form forming shoulder can easily process paper from various manufacturers.
Kliklok ACE
The Kliklok ACE carton erector can form up to 100 carton trays for cookies per minute using the lock-style method, depending on the material and tray design, helping manufacturers conserve resources.
This method produces completely glue-free cartons, while allowing manufacturers to minimise energy, maintenance, and material costs, and improve the recyclability of their packaging.
Synexio
Syntegon addresses the requirements of its customers and supports them during their transition to environmentally friendly and PPWR-compliant packaging through material testing and consulting services.
The cloud-based software solution Synexio, which is available with the Service Agreements, supports manufacturers in optimising their systems’ process parameters. The Uptime package comes with a “sustainability monitoring” feature that provides data on power consumption and waste production – and helps manufacturers to reduce their ecological footprint.
Experts perform comprehensive analyses and material tests in in-house laboratories to define suitable packaging materials, subsequently testing them on the production machine under real-life conditions.
“We continuously keep developing our system solutions so that we can help companies to make their packaging processes more environmentally friendly,” said Sauer.
“We are currently working on a new paper-ON-form retrofit kit for paper multipacks and will be presenting samples of this new format to visitors to show where sustainable packaging is heading next.”
