Germany-based industrial technology manufacturer, Minebea Intec, has launched its new user interface, Blue HMI, which it says enables improved connectivity for its range of dynamic checkweighers. The company will be exhibiting Blue HMI, along with its other core technologies, at Fachpack – the European trade fair for packaging, technology, and processes – from 24-26 September in Nuremberg.

Weighing and inspection solutions play a crucial role in the packaging industry by ensuring product quality, minimising production errors and ensuring compliance with legal regulations. Minebea Intec aims to demonstrate at Fachpack how its technologies can increase the efficiency and precision of packaging processes.

The company aims to support its customers as a partner throughout the entire project planning process, with a goal of maximising the precision and efficiency of production processes whilst offering customised solutions that meet individual requirements.

Blue HMI

The new Blue HMI for dynamic checkweighers will take centre stage at Minebea Intec's trade fair appearance.

Minebea Intec global product manager, Lars-Henrik Bierwirth, said that the advanced user interface increases efficiency, and will be on display on the company's established checkweigher Flexus.

“Our Blue HMI is characterised by intuitive user guidance and is therefore extremely user-friendly,” said Bierwirth.

“The operating unit displays the overall system effectiveness and other statistics based on the current weighing results. It also has various logging functions that make it ideal for audits.”

The new user interface enables improved connectivity by equipping the checkweighers with flexible interfaces such as industrial fieldbuses, Ether-net/IP, Profinet or the company's own SPC@Enterprise. OPC UA is fully integrated in accordance with the specification (Companion Specification Weighing) and is optionally on board. The interface can also be extended to include the PackML specification (Companion Specification PackML according to OMAC).

Metal detection and industrial scales

In addition to the Blue HMI, the new Mitus metal detector will be presented, which is equipped with MiWave technology. The technology enables flexible and precise detection of metal contaminants in products of all kinds. Its advanced signal processing means that even the smallest metal particles can be reliably detected, even with high product effects, further increasing product safety and quality.

The V-shaped MiNexx 3000 weighing platforms will be showcased to exhibit Minebea Intec’s increased weighing accuracy and load cell protection.

Global product manager, Nils Hubrich, said that the MiNexx 3000 weighing platforms are durable, robust and capable of withstanding the most demanding industrial environments.

“They offer a variety of configuration options and can be adapted to a wide range of industrial applications,” said Hubrich.

Minebea Intec products are distributed in Australia by NWI Weighing, and are available online at nwiweighing.com.au, or in-store in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, or Brisbane.

Packaging News

In a collaborative effort, Kimberly-Clark Australia and Woolworths have successfully completed a packaging trial aimed at eliminating the use of secondary plastic packaging for Viva paper towels. The initiative, now set to become standard practice, is projected to save 15 tonnes of plastic annually.

John Cerini has stepped down as CEO of Pro-Pac, with Ian Shannon, who was chief operating officer of the company, taking over the role, and becoming managing director.

Sustainable packaging achievements were recognised at the APCO Annual Awards in Sydney last night. The event celebrated organisations, and individuals, driving change towards the 2025 National Packaging Targets and beyond. PKN was there.
