A hygienic stainless-steel enclosure designed to be resistant to corrosion from cleaning agents, chemicals, and acidic substances commonly found in food and beverage processing environments will be on display at foodpro this year.

Designed especially designed for the Laumas TLM8 series weight transmitters – the Laumas CASTLM813A from ADM Instrument Engineering – has been certified for use in wash-down food and beverage processing applications and has an ingress protection (IP) rating of IP69K. The resistance ensures that the equipment maintains its functionality and longevity over time.

The IP69K IP rating indicates the ability of these enclosures to withstand high-pressure, high-temperature water jets and complete protection against dust ingress. This is particularly important in food and beverage applications due to the stringent hygiene and cleanliness requirements in these industries.

Food processing facilities and commercial kitchens require regular and thorough cleaning to maintain strict hygiene standards. These IP69K-rated enclosures can withstand the high-pressure water jets used during washdown procedures, ensuring that no water penetrates the load cell transmitters and causes damage.

In food and beverage environments, dust, dirt, and other particulates are common. Laumas’ IP69K-rated enclosures provide a high level of protection against dust ingress, preventing any contaminants from compromising the equipment's performance or contaminating the food or beverages being processed.

The rugged design and high protection level of IP69K makes it less prone to failure due to water or dust ingress. By using such equipment, food and beverage companies can minimise equipment downtime and production interruptions, leading to increased operational efficiency and productivity.

ADM Instrument Engineering will be exhibiting at stand P52.

Packaging News

In a collaborative effort, Kimberly-Clark Australia and Woolworths have successfully completed a packaging trial aimed at eliminating the use of secondary plastic packaging for Viva paper towels. The initiative, now set to become standard practice, is projected to save 15 tonnes of plastic annually.

John Cerini has stepped down as CEO of Pro-Pac, with Ian Shannon, who was chief operating officer of the company, taking over the role, and becoming managing director.

Sustainable packaging achievements were recognised at the APCO Annual Awards in Sydney last night. The event celebrated organisations, and individuals, driving change towards the 2025 National Packaging Targets and beyond. PKN was there.
