Victoria Bitter has entered the low carb beer market with the launch of VB Low Carb, a full flavoured, full strength variant with 33 per cent less carbohydrates than regular VB.

First brewed in 1854, VB has enjoyed a resurgence with a different crowd over the past four years, as classic beer brands made a nostalgic comeback.

Carlton United Breweries head of classic brands, Sarah Wilcox said VB’s brewers weren’t sure a lower carb variant was possible at first.

“With the full flavour and strength of regular VB at 4.9% ABV, we think VB Low Carb will appeal to even the most die-hard VB purists. Our brewers weren’t sure it was possible, but they did it.

“In the past, some classic beer lovers thought low carb beer was not for them, but with seven out of ten VB drinkers telling us they’d seriously consider a low- carb option, it is the right time for VB Low Carb,” said Wilcox.

VB Low Carb will be available in 375ml cans and bottles at bottle shops across the country.
