Aldi Australia has developed the Choceur Choco Changer range, chocolate bars created from 100 per cent responsibly sourced cocoa to offer consumers taste, value and responsibility.

The nation’s first supermarket to join Tony’s Open Chain, an initiative designed to transform the chocolate industry through responsible sourcing principles, Aldi is taking responsibility for building an open and transparent supply chain.

The announcement comes after the Australian Conservation Foundation’s Future of Food benchmark report found almost none of Australia’s top 20 food businesses have begun to assess nature-related impacts, dependencies, and risks in their value chains, with even less disclosing them.

Aldi Australia joins other Aldi countries across Europe, the UK, and the US in ranging three new delicious flavours, making it an international mission ally and partner of Tony’s Open Chain.

Choceur Choco Changer bars are composed of different shaped triangular pieces, representing cocoa plantations from Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, where the cocoa is sourced. No two pieces are exactly the same, with each bar featuring unique shapes and sizes, reflecting the reality of the cocoa value chain – where risks and rewards are not evenly distributed.

Aldi Australia’s director of sustainability, Daniel Baker, said the launch of Choceur Choco Changer in Australia represents a significant milestone in the Aldi South Group’s commitment to making good difference for both people and the planet through responsible sourcing and responsible business practices.

“We’re proud to be mission allies of Tony’s Open Chain, improving working conditions along the cocoa supply chain to ensure each step is traceable and transparent,” said Baker.

“For everyday chocolate lovers this means you can savour a delicious treat while supporting a more ethical cocoa industry. Each purchase helps us drive structural change that creates a positive lasting impact in farming communities.”

Aldi’s Choceur Choco Changer range is available for RRP $3.99, in flavours including Dark Chocolate Salty Fudge Almond, Milk Salted Caramel Brownie and Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Nougat.
