Bega’s Greek Style yogurt brand, Farmers Union, has launched its latest product in four flavours, aimed at the social media sensation that is gut health. Gut Good is the company’s gut health yoghurt, containing prebiotics and probiotics aiming to promote a healthy gut microbiome.
With Bega’s recent Health & Wellness Study showing at least 50 per cent of Australians experience gut discomfort – including bloating, gas and constipation – Farmer’s Union has discovered a demand for products like Gut Good, that claim to promote both a healthy gut and mind.
Gut Good is the only yogurt in the market that contains galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), a prebiotic derived from lactose, and contains three probiotic strains, BB-12TM, LGGTM and L. casei.
The range is high in protein and made with no added sugar, and comes in vanilla, strawberry, mango and caramelised banana.
Bega’s in-house nutritionist and accredited practising dietitian, Jennifer Arguelles, said diet plays an important role in gut health and the microbiome.
“By consuming probiotics and prebiotics, such as those in our new Gut Good yogurt; as well as dietary fibre, fluids and a diverse range of plant-based foods, you can make an impact on your gut microbiome,” said Arguelles.
“Science tells us that the microbiome is connected to overall well being, including mental health and metabolic health.”
