Confectionery company, Menz, has teamed up with Australia’s oldest bakery, Balfours, in a collaboration to celebrate South Australian innovation. The two brands will be releasing a limited-edition creation – the Balfours x FruChocs Frog Cake.

Just in time for FruChocs Appreciation Day on 27 September, consumers will be able to purchase the product in selected South Australian retailers for a limited time only, from 23 September to 6 October.

Menz Confectionery national marketing and licensing manager, Polly Love, said the pairing of the two state icons into one epic sweet treat was the collaboration South Australians have been waiting for

“It’s perfect to celebrate FruChocs Appreciation Day! Partnering with Balfours to create this limited-edition Frog Cake is a fantastic way to celebrate our shared South Australian heritage and bring something truly unique to our loyal fans,” said Love.

The frog cake was originally made by Balfours in 1923, a sponge cake and cream covered with fondant. Menz FruChocs is a confectionery which consists of a cube of dried apricot and peach paste, coated in milk chocolate. They have been produced in South Australia since 1948.

The two desserts will be coming together for the first time in the Balfours FruChocs Frog Cake – a hand-made twist on the classic Frog Cake, with a classic sponge base, apricot jam filling encased in FruChoc’s signature colour orange fondant, and topped off with a FruChoc balanced in the frog’s mouth.

Balfours general manager, Hamish McLeay, said that bringing together two South Australian icons in this unique collaboration was truly special.

“We love working with Menz and look forward to seeing the limited-edition Balfours x FruChocs Frog Cake delight customers in retailers across South Australia,” said McLeay.

The limited-edition products will be available in a two-pack at selected retailers across South Australia, including Woolworths, Drakes, and Foodland, from 23 September to 6 October, and in the FruChocs retail stores on 27 September.
