Premium distillery, Hendrick’s Gin, has launched its latest limited-edition release. Grand Cabaret is inspired by a historic fruit-based libation that was in vogue in Paris in the early 20th century, and will be launched at a cabaret show at The Emerald Room.

The latest addition to Hendrick’s Cabinet of Curiosities range, Grand Cabaret joins Hendrick’s Amazonia, Flora Adora, Lunar, Midsummer Solstice and Neptunia. The new gin features a rich ensemble of bright flavours, and will be available in over 50 markets internationally.

The company describes the palate as a cabaret of stone fruit with wild waves of light, fruity freshness, that is rounded out by sweet aromatic herbs for a deliciously smooth, fragrantly fruity finish.

Hendrick’s master distiller, Lesley Gracie, said she was inspired after reading about a stone fruit eau de vie that was served with a dash of gin and scented with rose, which gained popularity at fashionable Parisian parties in the early 1900s. This eau de vie was in turn inspired by a 17th century revelation – the distilling of stone fruit.

“I’m always looking for inspiration and this time I found it leafing through historical recipes for stone fruit spirits - eau de vies, peach schnapps, cherry liqueurs and the like - when those indulgent stone fruit flavours were really the ‘in thing’ for those that had the means to celebrate in spectacular style,” said Gracie.

“I played around and found that when you put these different stone fruit flavours together, they give you a nice rich depth of flavour. I added sweet herbs to round the vibrant fruit out. It’s the first time I’ve experimented with stone fruits and I love how it adds a decadent depth of flavour, whilst maintaining a refreshing lightness.”

To celebrate the launch of this limited-edition gin, Hendrick's Gin has collaborated with The Emerald Room in Darlinghurst to present a series of exclusive cabaret shows. The launch event will be held on 2 October.

The Emerald Room collaboration underscores the link between the sensuous cabaret of flavours, with Hendrick's Gin Grand Cabaret taking you on a journey, seducing your taste buds with pirouettes of decadent stone fruit and shimmies of sweet herb, providing you with a first of its kind immersive experience.

Hendrick’s Gin brand ambassador, James Macrae, said The Emerald Room will offer gin enthusiasts an immersive journey into the world of Grand Cabaret.

“Inspired by Paris' Crazy Horse and NYC's The Box, living bouquets of flowers will welcome guests to the show, guiding them to their seats where they'll encounter a cast of characters representing a variety of unique gin garnishes - from cucumbers to raspberries, limes, and pineapples (oh my!),” said Macrae.

Hendrick's Grand Cabaret is available to purchase at Dan Murphys for RRP $78.99.

APCO has released its 2022-23 Australian Packaging Consumption and Recovery Data Report, the second report released this year in line with its commitment to improving timeliness and relevance of data.

The AFGC has welcomed government progress towards implementing clear, integrated and consistent changes to packaging across Australia, but says greater clarity is needed on design standards.

It’s been a tumultuous yet progressive year in packaging in Australia, with highs and lows playing out against a backdrop of uncertainty caused in part by the dangling sword of DCCEEW’s proposed Packaging Reform, and in part by the mounting pressure of rising manufacturing costs.
