South Australian family-owned wine producers, Millon Wines, has launched its newest dessert wine – the limited-edition 2023 Botrytis Riesling.

The grapes used in the 2023 Botrytis Riesling were taken from Millon Wines’ Eden Valley estate, hand-picked late in the season to capture the optimal botrytis infection. After a gentle pressing, the juice was cold-settled and then fermented slowly at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks, to preserve the Riesling's aroma and acidity.

Post-fermentation, the wine aged on its fine lees for several months, enriching its texture and enhancing its signature honeyed profile. The wine was then filtered and bottled under screw cap to maintain its purity, freshness, and longevity.

The winemaker’s tasting notes describe the profile of the Riesling as having aromas of vibrant honey, lime zest, and ginger.

“The 2023 Eden Valley Botrytis Riesling boasts a radiant golden hue and an inviting bouquet of honeyed apricots, ripe peaches, candied citrus peel, and a subtle hint of ginger spice,” stated the notes.

“The palate reveals rich layers of dried apricots, marmalade, and quince, balanced by a lively acidity. The finish is long and refreshing, harmonising sweetness and acidity to perfection.”

The 2023 Eden Valley Botrytis Riesling is available online at millonwines.com.au for RRP $38.00.
