Fremantle based distillery, Running With Thieves, has launched its new Thieves Collection, venturing into the premium whisky business with a range of single barrel products.
The company stated that Thieves Collection embodies the spirit of defiance and adventure, inspired by Fremantle Prison, a bastion of convict history and resilience. Each batch distilled is a testament to the rugged landscapes and the enduring craftsmanship that define this coastal town in Western Australia.
The new brand was launched at a tasting event at the Royal Perth Golf Course, hosted by executive director of Thieves Collection, Michael Simm.
Thieves Collection Single Malt Spirit, bottle 001, from barrel 001, was formally auctioned off during the launch event for a staggering $18,500. The brand raised over $40,000 during the auction with all proceeds going to Telethon, supporting Western Australian children and families in need.
Thieves Collection head distiller, Paul Gasmier, said the launch will be the first of many successes for the brand.
“We are very proud of the products we have produced for Thieves Collection; this is the start of something truly special,” said Gasmier.
The Thieves Collection range is scaled by alcohol percentage and price point, using the designations Platinum, Gold, and Silver. The products include a variety of variations depending on the barrel used within the distilling process, with no two bottles being the same.
The range includes Thieves Collection Single Malt Whisky, Single Malt Whisky – Sherry Barrel Finish, Gold Highland Cask Whisky, Bourbon Style, and more. The products can be viewed at thievescollection.com, with Gold range pricing around $350.00 for a 700mL bottle.
