California-based Skrewball Whiskey is bringing its peanut butter whiskey-flavoured liqueur to Australian and New Zealand shelves, in partnership with Pernod Ricard.
Skrewball offers a balanced sweet and savoury flavour combining complex whiskey with rich peanut butter notes and a long finish.
The drink was inspired by co-founder Steven Yeng’s first-time experience with peanut butter, as part of a care package received when his family arrived in America, after fleeing Cambodia and living in a Thai refugee camp.
Yeng opened a bar with his brothers where he first created the peanut butter and whiskey drink, and his former-chemist wife, Brittany, saw the opportunity to bottle it.
Skrewball’s rapid growth has seen it enter Canada and Puerto Rico, and now Australian and New Zealand whiskey lovers will be able to try it.
Pernod Ricard became a partner in the brand as a majority stakeholder in 2023, joining its portfolio of iconic brands and contributing to its premiumisation strategy.
“It’s no surprise ‘black sheep’ feel right at home in both Australia and New Zealand, with their vibrant cultures and zest for life,” said the Yengs.
“Now we can offer them a drink that embodies that same spirit of adventure and individuality. Seeing our iconic bottles on shelves and bars here is a dream come true, and we’re excited for Aussies and Kiwis to experience Skrewball in their own unique way.”
Skrewball 750ml is now available in liquor stores nationally for RRP $65.
