Suntory beverage brand, V Energy, has added a new flavour to its V Refresh range for a refreshing summer drink – V Refresh Blackcurrant Yuzu.

This crisp energy drink brings together the bold and fruity flavour of blackcurrant with Japanese-inspired yuzu for a one-of-a-kind taste experience.

Suntory Oceania is taking note of the rise of low and no sugar beverages, with more than twenty per cent of Australian and New Zealand consumers saying they have consumed a zero-sugar energy drink in the last year.

Of those consumers, more than 60 percent believe they will drink even more or just as much in the next 12 months. The new addition joins Green Apple Lemonade, Pineapple & Watermelon, and Citrus Lemonade in the V Refresh line-up, distributed across Australia and New Zealand.

Suntory Oceania head of energy & transformation, Josh Wheeler, said the team was excited to expand the V Refresh range with Blackcurrant Yuzu.

“Consumers are loving the zero-sugar energy category. The combination of blackcurrant and yuzu delivers a fresh, revitalising burst of flavour that’s perfect for those who want an energy boost without the sugar rush,” said Wheeler.

“As a company with Japanese heritage, this new flavour not only offers a unique and refreshing twist, but also creates a meaningful link between our Oceania operations and our Japanese roots as part of the Suntory Group.

“We’ve seen an incredible response to the V Refresh range overall. With Blackcurrant Yuzu, we’re excited to give consumers even more choices to stay energised and refreshed – whether they’re out adventuring, enjoying time with friends, or just looking for a cool, uplifting pick-me-up,” he said.

Last month the company also relaunched the highly requested V Black flavour to Australia, which originally hit the market in 2006.

Packaging News

APCO has released its 2022-23 Australian Packaging Consumption and Recovery Data Report, the second report released this year in line with its commitment to improving timeliness and relevance of data.

The AFGC has welcomed government progress towards implementing clear, integrated and consistent changes to packaging across Australia, but says greater clarity is needed on design standards.

It’s been a tumultuous yet progressive year in packaging in Australia, with highs and lows playing out against a backdrop of uncertainty caused in part by the dangling sword of DCCEEW’s proposed Packaging Reform, and in part by the mounting pressure of rising manufacturing costs.
