A small team in no rush is how Tasmania’s Battery Point Distillery head distiller Jack Lark described the creation of its first whisky. 

“With whisky you aren’t reinventing the wheel - it’s still all made with the same three ingredients, but we really took our time over selecting the best of those ingredients,” said Lark. 

Made with Tasmanian malt mash, a combination of yeast cultures and 100 per cent Tasmanian water, the distillery has used traditional Scottish double-distillation methods with small cask and barrel finishing. 

The spirit brings together port, sherry, and bourbon small cask whiskies in a blend, which is then aged in an apple brandy barrel before being finished in a muscatel. 

The bottle has been designed to present a sophisticated look while the packaging is inspired by the detailing on the barrels used. 

Battery Point Whisky is a limited release of 200 bottles. It is sold for RRP $325 per 500ml bottle and will be available via wholesale or direct-to-consumer.
