Following an inaugural sell-out event in 2022, alternative proteins think tank Food Frontier says AltProteins23 will allow for more delegates and more concurrent events.
The conference will be held in Melbourne on Wednesday, 4 October.
Food Frontier said it was a must for those interested or engaged in plant-based meat, cultivated meat or precision fermentation sectors, from primary production, investment and R&D, to manufacturing, foodservice, and retail.
Food Frontier said the return of the Victorian government as the lead sponsor was a clear sign of investment and support for emerging proteins.
In recent years, the number of Australian and New Zealand alternative protein companies has grown tenfold, from four to more than 40. Food Frontier said there are now more than 300 plant-based meat products in our supermarkets, up by a third since 2021, with Australian and New Zealand brands accounting for two-thirds of brands in the category.
The think tank said the conference would address questions such as:
- with rapid growth comes major challenges, and new opportunities.
- is category consolidation inevitable?
- how can the industry maximise growth potential in foodservice?
- what can be learnt from industry strategies that have come to fruition and those that haven’t, here and overseas?
It will also explore everything from game-changing protein technologies on the horizon to immediate scale-up bottlenecks across R&D, ingredients, and production.
