Wine enterprise Duxton Vineyards has stated that the 2024 vintage was excellent quality, with 48,363 tonnes of fruit crushed over the season.

Duxton Vineyards Wine & Grape commercial manager, Tony Allen, said the company was delighted with the quality of the 2024 vintage, with the whites exhibiting “exceptional freshness and vibrancy”.

“Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc lead the lineup, showcasing excellence in every glass. Prosecco looks delectable and Moscato blends enchant with their aroma, while Semillon captivates with its zesty lemon citrus notes.

“Our alternative varieties look incredible with some remarkable parcels of Fiano and Vermentino. On the red wine front, we're equally excited by the quality across our range. Outstanding parcels of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot take centre stage, the Merlot shining with its bright, fruit-forward nature. Our notable alternatives continue to impress, with Malbec, Durif and Graciano being standouts,” said Allen.

Duxton Vineyards was founded in 2015 in the Mildura and Sunraysia region of New South Wales, Australia, with the goal of creating a large aggregation of Australian vineyards for investors.

The business owns and operates over 2400 hectares of vineyards in this area, as well as a large-scale winery.

Allen said the favourable grape growing conditions and a good amount of rainfall at the end of last year meant Duxton’s vines were in excellent health leading up to the 2024 vintage period.

Harvest began late January with sparkling varieties and early season Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay being processed first, showing great varietal fruit expression and good acid levels. Early February saw an increase in sugar levels across all varieties which meant the winery worked to process the fruit before it became over ripe.

Earlier this year, Duxton Vineyards was the first in Australia to trial OXIN, the world’s first fully autonomous, multi-tasking robotic vineyard tractor, to improve efficiency with wine production. It has conducted mowing, mulching, and trimming for the company, as well as weed and canopy spraying, since February.
