The winners of Invest and Trade Western Australia’s 2024 Western Australian Export Awards have been announced, with Austral Fisheries named as the Exporter of the Year.

Now in its 36th year, the program celebrates the achievement of Western Australian businesses exporting home-grown innovation to the world, and provides a platform to raise the profile of the state's industries and export capabilities.

In the year to April 2024, Western Australia exported $255.3 billion of goods, accounting for 47 per cent of Australia's goods exports.

This year saw a record number of applications for the awards, with 105 applications from 48 different companies. Thirteen winners were celebrated at the awards ceremony on 19 September, competing in categories including e-Commerce, Small Business and Emerging Exporter.

Exporter of the Year, Austral Fisheries, is a company that adopts sustainability and carbon neutrality practices in commercial fishing of fish and prawn products. It is one of Australia's largest integrated commercial fishing companies and is recognised for its award-winning design. Austral Fisheries also received the Sustainability and Green Economy award.

Other food and beverage industry winners included Craig Mostyn Group, a family-owned business that provides a variety of locally-farmed produce to Australia and abroad, taking home the Agribusiness, Food and Beverages award.

Australia's largest co-operative, CBH Group, won the Regional Exporter award, for its collaborative network approach in the management, production and delivery of Australian grains.

The winners of each category now advance to the Australian Export Awards to compete for the national title in Canberra in November.

Western Australia Premier, Roger Cook, said exporters power the economy of the state and the nation, supporting tens of thousands of jobs across Western Australia.

“The WA Export Awards are a fantastic way of acknowledging the innovative work of our exporters in taking WA products to the world,” said Cook.

“I wish all 13 of our winners the best of luck at the Australian Export Awards in Canberra, where they will showcase their businesses and our State on the national stage.”
