Allergen-free food and beverage manufacturer Freedom Foods Group has appointed Dr Joanna McMillan as its chief nutritionist.

Dr McMillan, a qualified dietitian and nutrition science PhD, will also act as a media and consumer spokesperson for the brand, and will be involved with the company's social media activities.

Dr McMillan regularly appears in the media and is the official nutritionist for the Today Show. She also co-authored The Low GI Diet with Professor Brand-Miller and fellow dietitian Kaye Foster-Powell, and has her own small but growing company.

Freedom Foods said the appointment comes ahead of new product launches including infant formula, a new range of cereals, and new kids snack bars.
