High-end chocolate manufacturer Lindt & Sprungli has opened a $60 million facility in Sydney after 18 months of work on the project.

The new plant, which is located at Sydney Business Park in the western suburb of Marsden Park, it covers 66,000 square metres and 25,000 square metres of factory and logistics space.

The ribbon-cutting event was reportedly attended by premier Mike Baird – who is also the minister for Western Sydney – and Lindt Group CEO Ernst Tanner.

The company has said the move would allow it to expand its operations and provide employment in Sydney’s west.

Work on the site began in December 2014, and Lindt has moved its office, warehousing, and distribution over from Sydney, Mascot, and Eastern Creek.

The Marsden Park site’s factory outlet operation opened in October last year.
