Nescafé has renewed its partnership with food relief organisation, Foodbank, to supply more than 700,000 tins of Nescafé Blend 43 over the next three years. Nestlé made the commitment to provide a regular supply in 2021 and has donated 500,000 tins since then.

Foodbank Australia CEO, Brianna Casey, said coffee is consistently one of the most in-demand items for Foodbank.

“For many of us, coffee is a staple drink we have every day, but for those struggling to even put a meal on the table, coffee can be seen as a luxury and becomes one of the first items dropped off the shopping list.

“We are so grateful for the commitment and partnership of brands like Nescafé which play a vital role in helping us meet the increasing demand for food relief across the country. Together, we will continue to help those doing it tough put a meal on the table and enjoy a hot cup of coffee,” Casey said.

Foodbank’s latest Hunger Report revealed more than half of households experiencing food insecurity in Australia are experiencing the most extreme level of hardship, regularly skipping meals or going entire days without food.

Foodbank collaborates with suppliers, manufacturers and transporters in world-leading programs to source key staple foods that don’t come in sufficient quantities via rescue channels. Its Collaborative Supply Program means the organisation’s warehouses can expect key staples – like coffee – throughout the year.

Nestlé Oceania general manager, Beverages, Martin Brown, said, “Coffee is not just a beverage, it’s a source of comfort, energy and connection for many. By continuing our partnership with Foodbank, we can support community in meaningful ways and ensure that individuals and families facing food insecurity can also enjoy a warm cup of coffee, bringing a sense of normalcy and comfort to their lives.

“So far we’ve provided the equivalent of over 48 million cups of coffee for Aussies facing food insecurity.”

Adamantem Capital is bidding to acquire Close the Loop Group. The board has recommended the offer, and is realigning itself, with CEO Joe Foster stepping down from the board, as are the chairman and CFO. Foster will become chief operating officer at the company.

In one of the biggest deals ever undertaken by an ASX-listed business, Amcor is acquiring US-based Berry Group in an all-stock merger, in a move that will create a consumer and healthcare packaging business with 400 operating plants around the world.
