Treasury Wine Estates premium brand, Penfolds, has appointed Simon O’Donnell to a global role as director of commercial strategy & planning, transitioning from his previous position of sales director ANZ.

Penfolds became a standalone division under Treasury Wine Estates in 2021, and is driving “outstanding” growth for the company according to its latest financial results. O’Donnell’s appointment to the newly created role aims to deliver new strategic focus, for Penfolds to further expand its global footprint and commercial opportunities, while continuing to grow operations in ANZ.

Since April 2022, the company stated O’Donnell has been instrumental in establishing and leading the Penfolds division in ANZ.

Brooke Godfrey will succeed O’Donnell in the role of Sales Director ANZ, following a 3-month secondment into the position while O’Donnell was on parental leave across 2023 and 2024. Godfrey brings a wealth of experience in leadership roles, including as Penfolds global head of strategy and chief of staff.

Penfolds global sales general manager, Yodi Mootoosamy, said the changes to the team structure are a testament to the growth and success of the company’s commercial division in recent years.

“I have every confidence that under Simon’s leadership, the team will continue to deliver valuable insights to broaden our international presence and avenues for growth, while Brooke’s permanent appointment to the role of Director ANZ Sales will continue to build successful partnerships with our customers locally,” said Mootoosamy.
