Thomas Foods International says its latest board and senior executive appointments will ready the company for its next stage of global growth. Tony Stewart is stepping down as group CEO to become an executive director.

Stewart will focus on supporting the group in key areas including corporate governance, risk and key project delivery from a global perspective.

Darren Thomas remains Group managing director of Australia’s largest family-owned meat processing company.

“Tony has provided great leadership, support and service since joining our family company back in 2014 initially as CFO and later chief commercial officer,” Thomas said.

“In his recent time as Group CEO, we have expanded significantly across Australia and overseas. As a board member, Tony’s continued insight and counsel will be highly valuable as we set our course for future global growth.”

CFO Australia

Alexis Junin has been appointed as CFO Australia at Thomas Foods International. An executive with 20 years’ experience, Junin joins TFI having worked in senior management positions across Australia and globally within advanced manufacturing.

This has included roles as CFO and deputy CEO with Naval Group Australia. As TFI’s CFO Australia, he will be responsible for the financial stewardship of all Australian entities within the group.

Group Protein Solutions manager

Shayne Newell has returned to Thomas Foods International to take on the newly created position of Group Protein Solutions manager. A former senior manager at TFI’s Murray Bridge facility, Newell returns to oversee the commercial operation and development of TFI’s meat co-products business globally.

Newell has over 30 years’ experience in the food manufacturing industry including operations management and rendering plant management roles at various meat processing companies across Australia and overseas.

“Over the years Thomas Foods International has evolved into a truly global business with operations across Australia as well as Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America,” Thomas said.

“Having an experienced and focussed leadership team in place has been critical along that journey and will continue to be as we look to take full advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.”
