Automation systems company, Swisslog, has appointed Joseph Kutek as its newest food and beverage sales consultant. With a strong technical background, he aims to assist the industry in choosing the right automation solutions for their purposes.

Kutek has been with the company for eight years in system design engineering roles, and has worked with all of Swisslog’s warehouse automation ranges in his design engineering experience.

Swisslog Australia and New Zealand managing director, Dan Ulmamei, said Kutek was the ideal fit for the role, and the company was happy to have filled it internally.

“Joseph’s drive to find the best solution for customers, combined with his excellent technical understanding of our automation systems will provide ongoing benefits to food and beverage customers in Australia and New Zealand,” said Ulmamei.

Kutek stated that involving a technical understanding early in the sales process will deliver benefits to customers.

“It’s important not just to look at a solution’s benefits, but to look at the customer’s specific challenges, and their unique site. I look at this through a more technical lens, which I believe can offer benefits when creating an integrated solution to deliver the best results,” he said.

“Swisslog has an outstanding heritage in the food and beverage industry, with impressive clients both locally and globally, including those operating chilled and frozen warehouses, which have additional considerations.”

For an industry that has been heavily impacted by supply chain uncertainty and labour shortages, Kutek sees great potential for automation to assist with throughput, reliability, and redundancy.

“We often think about warehouse automation systems handling finished goods in the food and beverage sector, but there has been an increasing trend towards utilising automation in the handling of inbound raw materials and packaging material,” he said.

“Ever since the pandemic, companies have opted to hold increased levels of raw materials and ingredients, to buffer them against supply chain challenges. Swisslog’s warehouse automation systems can greatly improve the efficiency of inbound raw materials, as well as packaging materials, to create an optimum solution for a food and beverage manufacturer.”
