Each issue of Food & Drink Business we ask an industry leader five questions about their working life. In our April 2022 edition we talked to the founder and CEO of Bubs Australia Kristy Carr.

1 Tell us about your current role

After founding Bubs in 2006, I continue to lead the business as founding managing director and CEO in its evolved form as a listed company.

2 What has been your greatest achievement so far?

Staying true to the DNA of the brand throughout the journey, ensuring we create a fun and engaging team, and continuing to provide for a generation of happy and healthy babies and kids.

3 What was your biggest mistake and what did you learn?

The biggest mistake I made was when we were moving the business from start-up to a listed company. At the time I didn’t have confidence and self-belief to realise that the best person and CEO I could be was to be myself and surround myself with support. It is easy to get intimidated at first by fancy suits and all the jargon.

Then I realised it was still the business I had started, and that I was was where I should be to help the company achieve its goals.  It has been a great self-discovery.

4 What would you tell your 25-year-old-self?

You are about to have the time of your life. Don’t look back, trust your intuition and judgement.

5 What is one goal you still want to achieve?

Showing Bubs to the world and sharing the best nutrition for the family designed by a proud Australian business.

Packaging News

The early bird rate for the 2025 Australasian Packaging Conference, to be held on 6-7 May at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, NSW, is closing on 4 April.

A packaging symposium held in Melbourne last week brought together some of the industry leading minds to share up-to-the-minute ideas on the most pressing issues for packaging. Lindy Hughson moderated the event and filed this report.

PKN EXCLUSIVE: In a groundbreaking development, Australian-based Zipform Packaging has launched a paper bottle made from over 95 per cent wood-based fibre, containing no plastic liner, and incorporating more than 50 per cent post-consumer recycled content.
