The West Australian government’s Agrifood and Beverage Voucher Program has completed its fifth round, awarding 61 SMEs vouchers to access expert advice on building resilience, sustainability, competitiveness, scale, and export preparedness into their operations.

The West Australian government’s Agrifood and Beverage Voucher Program has completed its fifth round, awarding 61 SMEs vouchers to access expert advice on building resilience, sustainability, competitiveness, scale, and export preparedness into their operations.

The program has been running since 2018, distributing almost $1.4 million via vouchers and attracting almost $2 million in matching funding.

The latest round sees $470,700 distributed between 69 business development vouchers and awarded to 61 companies.

To be eligible, companies need a turnover between $100,000 and $50 million. They can be awarded up to $20,000 with a 50:50 contribution to access professional services in five categories:

  • Business Planning;
  • Manufacturing for Business Growth (including transition to manufacturing for producers, HACCP, process engineering and automation);
  • Sales and Marketing (including e-commerce, marketing strategy, customer relationship management system design, export market development and re-branding);
  • Financial Health (including succession planning, pitch decks, and other investment planning); and
  • Environmental Sustainability and Social Responsibility (including net zero planning, wastewater management plans, sustainable packaging design, and ESG).

John Cerini has stepped down as CEO of Pro-Pac, with Ian Shannon, who was chief operating officer of the company, taking over the role, and becoming managing director.

In a collaborative effort, Kimberly-Clark Australia and Woolworths have successfully completed a packaging trial aimed at eliminating the use of secondary plastic packaging for Viva paper towels. The initiative, now set to become standard practice, is projected to save 15 tonnes of plastic annually.
