The winners for this year’s GABS Craft Beer Can Design Awards, sponsored by Orora, have been revealed, with Western Australia’s Beerfarm taking out the top spot and the coveted Orora Golden Can Trophy.

Beerfarm’s win was for its Fruitasaurus Rex imperial fruited pastry sour beer can design by Steffi Schmidt, who said the artwork was inspired by the perfect fusion of a t-rex, a pinball and fruit.

Completing the podium in an extremely hard-fought contest, Seven Mile Brewing Snozzberry Mixed Berry Sour, designed by Greg Hodgson, took out silver; while the bronze award went to Dangerous Ales Nelson Ha-ha DDH Hazy IPA, which was designed by Emily Reid.

Along with the Orora Golden Trophy, the winner receives printing plates plus a brewery stand at GABS (Great Australian Beer Spectacular) 2025 beerfest. All runners up walk away with prizes from Opal Packaging, and accolades of recognition go to the top designs from each state.

This year’s designs were said to reflect a "remarkable evolution" in craft beer can art, with the importance of standing out on the shelf being more pronounced due to a shift in consumer spending patterns.

Moving forward from here, it is anticipated that packaging creativity will continue to be a vital element in new beer releases, with first impressions mattering more than ever before.

This year, over 120 of Australia’s craft breweries entered one design each, with 10 finalists being selected across six different categories.
