Whisky liqueur brand Drambuie has been launched in a new bottle by distiller William Grant & Sons.

The bottle evokes Drambuie’s 270-year-old history, from its beginnings as a local favourite on the Isle of Skye in the 18th Century through to its place in today's cocktail bar.

The combination of aged Scotch whisky, heather honey, and herbs and spices remains unchanged.

The liqueur began as Bonnie Prince Charlie’s ‘personal elixir’, and the new bottle styling is a modern interpretation of classic design with stronger shoulders and a slight taper, says William Grant & Sons.

The bottle is cast in dark amber glass and topped with a red cork closure to evoke the design of the 20th century.

In celebration of unveiling the new design, William Grant & Sons invited bartenders from across the world, including Australia, to participate in Drambuie’s first global Instagram competition, currently running until 19 November.
