Farmers Union Greek Style Yoghurt has launched a new initiative called ‘tub-aware’, encouraging consumers to reduce food waste by repurposing yoghurt tubs to store leftovers. An on-pack QR code gives consumers access to tips and recipes for using yoghurt to enhance leftover meals.

According to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the majority of food waste in Australia comes from homes, with every household spending between $2000 and $2500 yearly on food that is wasted.

The ‘tub-aware’ campaign aims to highlight how Farmers Union Greek Style Yoghurt can be used to save and enhance leftover meals.

Nicole Alifragis, brand manager at Bega Group, said, “A dollop of our yoghurt can breathe new life into last night’s dinner, saving those leftovers from ending up in the bin.”

Farmers Union Greek Style Yoghurt is versatile, with a balance of creaminess and tartness, suitable for various dishes. The company encourages using its yoghurt in recipes like beef stroganoff, soups, baked potatoes, and tacos. The new 1kg tub design promotes awareness of food waste and offers recipe ideas accessible via a QR code on the packaging.

“When you’ve finished a delicious tub of Farmers Union Greek Style Yoghurt, the empty tub is perfect for storing leftover food. And, when you’re ready to eat your leftovers, we’ve created delicious ways to reinvent them with simple recipes and of course, our yoghurt, which you’ll find through the QR code on our ‘tub-aware’ packs,” added Alifragis.

The launch follows Farmers Union’s partnership with Saveful, an app that provides recipe inspiration based on available ingredients, helping users reduce food waste and save money.

Farmers Union Greek Style Yoghurt is made from natural ingredients, including fresh Australian milk, cream, and cultures.

The 1kg Natural Greek Style Yoghurt with the 'tub-aware' design is available in Woolworths, Coles, and independent supermarkets nationwide.
