Never Never Distilling Co have collaborated with mixologist Lorenzo Antinori, to create the Coffee & Cacao Gin, aiming to capture the essence of an Italian dessert experience.

Never Never brand director and co-founder Sean Baxter said the Coffee & Cacao Gin was about capturing the moment you plunge a spoon into a tray of fresh tiramisu or the smell of dusted chocolate over the top of a cappuccino.

“We’re constantly inspired by the people we work alongside in our industry.

“It’s an exciting combination of roasted coffee and earthy cacao character, built for exceptional classic cocktails,” said Baxter;

Antinori has previously worked with Never Never, having already created the Argo Gin together in 2020. Antinori said the collaboration was a nod to Italy.

“These these flavours are truly representative of both food and drinks tradition, this gin excites me because it carries a big body with lots of layers of flavours: toasted ones, umami but is also citrusy and floral,” said Antinori.

Coffee & Cacao Gin is the first gin created by Never Never Distilling Co. specifically for use in Negronis.

“If we’re making a gin aligned to the very best that Italy has to offer it has to make a good Negroni.

“We wanted to build a gin whose purpose was to create delicious coffee and chocolate forward Negronis and work with the dark earthy flavours found in Italian sweet vermouth,” said Baxter.

The roasted coffee used in the gin was sourced from local coffee purveyors Dawn Patrol who provided a Caturra varietal from Colombia. The dark Peruvian cacao that was used in the gin was sourced from local chocolatiers Hark.

The bright colours of the label are a homage to the Roma football team, its orange yellow and red stripes aligning to the famous sleeves of the club's vintage jersey.

Featuring flavours of roasted coffee bean, cacao nib, cacao butter and bergamot peel, the limited edition Coffee & Cacao Gin is available from Never Never Distilling Co for RRP $79.00.
