Fresh produce distributor Montague has introduced a new Australian-grown apple to the market.

Called Envy, the specialty apple is described as “sweet and dense” – sweeter than the others in Montague’s range.

The new harvest has been released exclusively to Woolworths in VIC, NSW, QLD and TAS.

Originally discovered as an apple brand in Asia, Montague planted Envy orchards in the Houn Valley (TAS), Batlow (NSW) and Stanthorpe (QLD) to create an Australian-first supply that would diversify the existing apple market.

Sister variety to the popular Jazz apple, Envy apples’ are able to maintain a bright white flesh well after being sliced.

Montague has been growing fresh produce in Australia since 1948.
