Kellogg’s is adding plant sterols to Sultana Bran, extending the product range of the well-known cereal to help lower cholesterol.

According to recent research, plant sterols can help reduce cholesterol by up to nin per cent, as it blocks the re-absorption of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad” cholesterol, from the gut.

The new Sultana Bran+ with Cholesterol Lowering Plant Sterols also provides 24 per cent of daily fibre needs, as well as keep its classic clusters, bran flakes and sultanas.

“Being able to get the 2g plant sterols you need to help lower cholesterol at breakfast means you have one less thing to think about for the rest of the day,” said Kellogg’s senior nutrition manager Dr Gina Levy.

“A bowl of Sultana Bran + with Cholesterol Lowering Plant Sterols has nearly a quarter of your daily fibre intake and is also high in whole grains, so you can really feel good about your choice.”

The new cereal I now available at Woolworths and independent supermarkets for RRP $6.99.
