Nespresso has launched its first ever cold brew style coffee capsule; exclusive to Nespresso Vertuo Next and Vertuo Pop machines, which have barcode reading technology that automatically adjusts the machine’s water, temperature, and flow extraction levels to match the coffee capsule requirements.

The new Cold Brew Style Intense capsule forms part of the Craft Brew range for Nespresso Vertuo coffee machines, and will allow Australians to create the popular coffee experience in minutes, rather than waiting up to a day to serve.

Traditionally, cold brew relies on time to extract the coffee’s oils, sugars, and caffeine to create a smooth and silky profile. As the name suggests, cold brew comes chilled and is the result of coarsely-ground coffee that has been submerged in cold water for anything between 12 and 24 hours; a process which draws out more flavour the longer it sits.

With Nespresso’s new Cold Brew Style Intense capsule, Nespresso uses the Vertuo machine to speed up the process. It starts by brewing the blend at a hot temperature for a short amount of time to bring out the roasted caramel notes of the Latin American Arabica beans, before switching to cool water for the rest of the extraction.

Nespresso Australia’s coffee ambassador, Mitch Monaghan, said cold brew coffee had become increasingly popular in Australia, thanks to its smooth and refreshing profile, with less bitterness.

“This is one of the most innovative coffee blends yet from Nespresso. Despite its popularity not everyone has the time, patience, or expertise to make cold brew style coffee at home. We are excited to present an easier option that’s convenient and doesn’t compromise on taste with Cold Brew Style Intense,” said Monaghan.

Cold Brew Style Intense capsules are available to purchase at Nespresso Boutiques, or online.
