Australian made and owned food company, Meliora Food’s vegan liquid egg alternative – Meliora Plant-Based Egg, will hit Woolworths shelves nationally this week.

Meliora’s Plant-Based Egg contains non-GMO, locally grown and sustainably sourced mung bean and fava bean protein isolates, making it a complete source of protein.

The product is also low in calories, carbohydrates and fat, is cholesterol and gluten free and allergen friendly. What’s more, this extremely versatile and great-tasting egg-alternative also scrambles and bakes with the same texture and fluff of an ordinary egg.

Unlike other powdered egg alternatives, Meliora’s Plant-Based Egg is bottled for convenience, only requiring a shake, ‘crack’ and pour straight from the bottle and into the pan.

Meliora Foods CEO Vicky Pappas said the company couldn’t ignore the growing need for a vegan friendly egg-alternative in Australia.

“We believe all Aussie’s deserve to enjoy delicious, beneficial and sustainable meals, so we’re proud to be able to offer Australians a sensational new product that doesn’t compromise on taste or texture.

“We’re excited to offer this alternative via one of our key retail partners, Woolworths. The product launch has been firmly supported by their team, as it threatens to be the biggest launch into the Australian plant-based category to date,” said Pappas.

Meliora’s Plant-Based Egg is available exclusively at Woolworths stores nationally in a 330g bottle (8 serves) and is priced at $8.50.
