A $4.5 million factory upgrade and improved manufacturing process at SunRice’s Leeton plant has resulted in a “softer, fluffier and tastier” version of its microwavable rice pouch range, the company says.

SunRice invested in the upgrades on its specialty rice foods facility and sustainability practices.

SunRice head of marketing Andrew Jeffrey said the investment showed the company’s commitment to continuous brand and production improvements.

“As the leader in the convenience rice category, we know Aussies already love the SunRice microwave rice pouches. We continuously review opportunities to improve our products and the new production technique for our microwave pouches will impart a finer eating experience of softer, fluffier and tastier rice, which we have had endorsed through consumer testing and research,” Jeffrey said.

The new formula also includes a revamp of its packaging. There are seven in the range: Brown Rice & Multigrains; Brown Rice; Red Rice & Quinoa; Brown Rice & Ancient Grains; Basmati; and Purple Rice. All are available in 250g and 450g pouches at supermarkets nationwide.
