v2food is launching more new products with a wider range of proteins exclusively at Coles supermarkets nationwide, catering to a growing number of Australians looking to boost their meat-free diets with plant-based meals.
Since its launch in 2019, v2food has developed plant-based beef alternatives, with its chicken products launched in March this year.
The company also recently signed on to collaborate with GrainCorp and CSIRO on a $4.4 million plant-based protein research project, with the goal to reduce the reliance on imported ingredients.
The new additions includes seven varieties, expanding across chicken-style products with v2popcornbites, Thai chilli and lime v2burgers and v2mince as well as a new and improved v2sausage range.
Research from YouGov, commissioned by v2food, revealed that almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of Australian adults said they would be likely to try a plant-based meat product if it’s proven to taste exactly the same as real meat.
v2food general manager ANZ, Nathaniel Tupou, said there was a growing number of shoppers who would happily choose plant-based sausages for their weekend BBQ, or opt for plant-based mince in their spaghetti Bolognese.
“The whole v2food range places an emphasis on delicious taste and ease of functionality, while also being better for the environment. It’s a win, win. Ultimately, our goal is to make it simple for shoppers to pick up a plant-based protein option,” said Tupou.
Coles’ category manager for meat free, Olivia Thompson, said that Coles was excited to offer a greater selection of plant-based products across the country.
“Health foods and meat-free meals are becoming increasingly popular at Coles, and we’re excited to expand our range to provide customers with more choices of nutritious plant-based options packed with protein,” Thompson said.
The new products are available now on Coles supermarket shelves.
