New Zealand chocolatier Whittaker’s has taken a fresh take to its Hokey Pokey Crunch flavour, as it joins the permanent product range.

Whittaker’s Hokey Pokey Crunch features aerated honeycomb pieces wrapped in Whittaker’s 33 per cent cocoa Five Roll Refined Creamy Milk chocolate, looking to balance between creamy and crunchy.

While Whittaker’s has long had a hokey pokey flavour, Whittaker’s co-chief operating officer Holly Whittaker said the new hokey pokey recipe takes it to a whole new level.

“We hope Whittaker’s Chocolate Lovers will agree our new Hokey Pokey Crunch is just as delicious but a lot more crunchy than before, delivering an all-round better sensory experience, encompassing both texture and taste,” she said.

“Hokey Pokey is such an iconic flavour that we’ve been looking for ways to improve on our original product because we believe ‘best is always better’.”

Whittaker’s is also celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, and was recently named the Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Brand for the tenth consecutive year.

The new Hokey Pokey Crunch will be available in 250g blocks, 50g slabs and mini slab multipacks in Woolworths and Coles nationwide.

Packaging News

The World Packaging Organisation has named 234 winners for the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2026, which were selected from 481 entries submitted across 36 countries.

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
