Adiona Tech, a Sydney-based logistics software startup backed by KPMG, Telstra and PepsiCo, has partnered with CartonCloud, an Australian cloud-based Transport Management System (TMS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) company to integrate technologies as a solution for companies pursuing digital transformation and optimisation.
CartonCloud has now integrated the Adiona Tech route planning service into its TMS, allowing customers to optimise their last mile delivery, reduce delivery costs and cut vehicle emissions. The solution is aimed at companies and FMCG and logistics businesses trying to digitise their operations, fortify their supply chains against disruptive external events, and meet their net-zero goals.
Covid caused a major downturn in trade and continues to disrupt global supply chains. Having now emerged from the pandemic, many logistics businesses are aggressively pursuing digital transformation and optimisation projects to make their supply chains and services more robust to further potential disruption. They are seeking solutions that can help them reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and maximise revenues. Many are also seeking to reduce their supply chain and transportation emissions as part of new net-zero targets.
Both CartonCloud and Adiona Tech specialise in helping logistics/transport companies pursue these kinds of digital transformation projects. The new partnership enables CartonCloud to offer route planning to customers, which is not a native TMS feature.
Using AI and Machine Learning, Adiona Tech route planning service helps companies automate the planning of tens of thousands of jobs in minutes – accounting for real-time traffic data, customer service levels, and multiple route options. This allows customers to reduce last mile delivery costs and vehicle emissions, as well as improve delivery times and revenues.
For Adiona Tech, the deal offers a significant new route to market, as CartonCloud customers are committed to digitising their warehouse operations, supply chain logistics, and transportation. Often last-mile delivery is the final piece in the puzzle.
Adiona Tech CEO and founder Richard Savoie said companies were emerging from Covid on a mission to deliver.
“They have put their faith in innovative new businesses like CartonCloud to optimise their services, maximise revenues, and future proof their business. Many are simultaneously pursuing ambitious net-zero targets, which can be severely undermined by transportation. Last mile delivery is a major logistical challenge, and delivery vehicles are among the biggest polluters on Australian roads. By automating route planning, we help companies reduce costs, eliminate emissions, and focus on running their business – not their delivery route,” said Savoie.
CartonCloud head of North America and COO Shaun Hagen said the global logistics market was rapidly adopting new technology, and was also at the forefront of many technological innovations.
“At CartonCloud, we are dedicated to ensuring all members of the logistics industry have access to technology innovation, and the tools they need to grow their businesses for success. We offer a range of secure software integrations from our powerful Warehouse and Transport Management systems, to enable our customers to tailor their software stack to the direct needs of their business and their customers,” said Hagen.
Using the CartonCloud mobile and desktop app, logistics operators can streamline operations; automating orders and data input, using barcode scanning, wave pick, cross-docking, route optimisation, ePODs, and more. The system seamlessly integrates with legacy and partner software for secure data management and allows 3PL customers to log onto a customer portal to manage orders, view stock details and generate up-to-date reporting.
Adiona’s AI-powered delivery route planning and optimisation engine applies machine learning to real traffic data to lower delivery costs, reduce vehicle emissions and help businesses get to Net Zero faster. For delivery companies switching to EVs, its fleet simulator enables customers to optimise their fleet purchase, deployment, and infrastructure plans.
Peter Sadler Removals & Logistics head of special projects Michael Cornish said CartonCloud and Adiona Tech had enabled the company to digitise several critical areas of its business, which offers logistics and removal services as well as FMCG related delivery services for wineries and breweries.
“We used CartonCloud to automate our warehouse processes, which were previously all done manually with pen and paper. They recommended that we used Adiona to automate last-mile delivery, assign jobs and simulate the best routes for our drivers. By optimising our fleet, Adiona is reducing costs, eliminating vehicle emissions and improving driver satisfaction. There’s a major shortage of drivers in many parts of Australia and driver retention is a key objective for any business in the transport sector,” said Cornish.
