Baiada Poultry is working to dispel hormone myths about chicken through its involvement with the NSW school community.

Baiada, which owns the Steggles brand, recently won an international marketing award for a campaign aimed at dispelling hormone myths about chicken, and now NSW schools are raising chicks as part of an Easter Show poultry competition supported by Baiada.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show Meat Bird Competition involves over 70 NSW schools, which received a delivery of 14 day-old chicks each from competition sponsor Baiada Poultry early this month.

For the competition, schools have all issued guarantees they have adequate facilities to raise the birds.

Students and their teachers who raise the chicks will then be permitted to enter one pair of male and one pair of female meat birds in the Poultry Show at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, which runs from 23 March until 3 April.
 
Participating schools have individually designed a food program for their birds aimed at maximising their growth in the six weeks leading up to the show.
