In what has been a remarkable year for Bubs Australia, the infant nutrition company has been named Australian Exporter of the Year at the annual Australian Export Awards hosted by Austrade.
Federal trade and tourism minister senator Don Farrell said having started from Kristy Carr’s kitchen in 2006, the company is now a leading exporter of organic formula, toddler milks, baby foods and snacks to 10 export markets, including China, South-East Asia, the Middle East and the US.
“In May this year, Bubs stepped in quickly to assist an ally in need, securing approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to ship its infant formula products to help relieve US supply shortages. Bubs shipped more than 1.25 million tins of Bubs infant formula – equal to 27.5 million bottles – to the US as part of the Biden Administration’s ‘Operation Fly Formula’,” Farrell said.
Bubs Australia founder and CEO Kristy Carr said the award reflected the hard word and determination of her team.
“The agility and flexibility of the team to quickly take on new export opportunities has been the key to our success. It’s great to see our team recognised and rewarded for that.
“Everywhere we go in the world there is just such a positive experience around trade with Australian businesses and that’s a true testament to everyone out there.
“Not only do we have such a wonderful reputation around the world in food and agriculture, but also as people to do business with,” she said.
Bubs was also joint winner of the Agribusiness, Food and Beverages Award with Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Agriculture brand, 2GR Premium Wagyu Beef.
Hancock Agriculture CEO Adam Giles said the award reflected the passion the entire team have for the product.
“2GR Wagyu is all produced in regional Australia, providing employment for many people who are passionate about producing high-quality products. Those products are then exported to 18 countries around the world,” Giles said.
2GR’s Wagyu exports skyrocketed last financial year, growing 336 per cent, with exports accounting for 61 per cent of total sales.
“Exporting is difficult at the start, but with our great team - from paddock to plate - we’re now leading the way to become one of the world’s most prominent producers and exporters,” Mr Giles added.
This year is the 60th anniversary of the Export Awards.
