Italy-based Benco Pack, represented in Oceania by HBM Packaging Technologies (02 8814 3100) showcased its updated Form Fill Seal (FFS) Packline machine at the Anuga FoodTec show in Cologne, Germany.

The FFS Packline, capable of producing thermoformed containers from 250 to 500gms, has been modified to take full advantage of the new patented Integrated Sleeve Applicator (ISA). The ISA shrink-sleeves are tubular labels made of plastic material that, by a heat-shrinking process, adhere as a skin onto the walls of the cup, allowing for customised shapes and enhanced shelf-appeal with the brighter graphics compared to paper labels.

The applicator can reach speeds of 30,000 sleeves per hour due to modifications, including a suction and air blowing system that minimises defects and eliminates excessive vapour in the pre-fixing and shrink-wrapping zone.  The application is suitable for a range of hot-fill products such as dairy, isotonic drinks, juices, UHT dairy long life products, puddings and desserts.

Multipacks of different flavours with matching relevant labels are also an option. Bencopack offers FFS systems for mini-portions, single and thermoformed cups, in hygienic, ultra-clean and aseptic versions, with over 350 machine installations worldwide.
