Victorian weight loss meal plan company Be Fit Food has snagged a $300,000 investment following its appearance last month on Shark Tank.

The company's meal plan, which promises consumers can lose between 2 and 10kg weight loss in the first two weeks, saw offers from two sharks, with the founders finally agreeing to an offer from Boost Juice founder Janine Allis.

Clinical dietitian Kate Save and bariatric surgeon Dr Geoff Draper founded the company, which claims to have created a science-backed meal alternative to the shakes and bars typically eaten by those seeking to lose weight before bariatric surgery.

The meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack, and are based on the CSIRO low carbohydrate diet, according to Save.

A small pilot study of people with diabetes that was published in the Endocrinology and Metabolism International Journal showed improved weight loss and diabetes management after just one week on the meals, she said.

After the Shark Tank appearance on August 15, the company's sales expanded overnight by 500 per cent, according to Save.

Allis’ $300,000 investment will be used to help to expand Be Fit Food beyond its current Victorian operation to other states, starting with the eastern seaboard next year, with a view to selling Australia-wide.
