A brief message on social media announced MOJO Kombucha was closing, saying its Activated Kombucha, Kombucha Soda, and Gut Shots would soon be disappearing from shops.
“This has been a fantastic journey and would not have been possible without you, our loyal drinkers. We thank you for all your support over the last 12 years,” the message said.
MOJO Kombucha was produced by Organic & Raw that was one of the first companies in Australia to start commercial scale manufacture of the beverage.
In 2018, Coca-Cola acquired the company for an undisclosed sum. Founder Anthony Crabb stayed on as CEO.
It had a brand refresh just under a year ago, and added new flavours to the range as recently as July this year.
A spokesperson for Coca-Cola told Food & Drink Business the decision followed a strategic review of Organic & Raw.
“As we continue to streamline our line-up of drinks and prioritise fewer brands with the greatest potential for scale… we have made the difficult decision that the Organic & Raw business in Australia will cease operating at the end of 2022,” they said.
MOJO juice, which was not produced by Organic & Raw, will continue to be available.
