The Food and Agribusiness Growth Centre (FIAL) has announced Professor Roy Green will replace Dr Michele Allan as chair, as she steps down after four years in the role.
FIAL said Green was highly regarded for his leadership in innovation, manufacturing and regional growth and diversification.
“With Professor Green’s strong track record in business-university collaboration, particularly around science, technology and innovation, and the development of competitive and dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystems, he is well placed to support FIAL’s transition to the next phase of continuing to drive sector growth.
“A particular focus will be on leveraging the cluster ecosystem to unlock the potential of Project 2030 for the Food and Agribusiness Sector,” FIAL said.
Green said he was thrilled to be joining FIAL as it transitioned into its next phase of growth.
“My background and understanding of competitive ecosystems will help support FIAL as they leverage the cluster ecosystem to unlock the potential of Project 2030, and drive export growth for the sector,” Green said.
Allan was stepping down to pursue other board opportunities, FIAL said. As well as her time as chair, Allan spent three years as a non-executive director on the board.
FIAL said her extensive knowledge of the sector, together with her commercial and innovation experience, provided leadership to unlock the sector’s growth potential, while highlighting the critical linkages between agricultural inputs and food and beverage manufacturing.
“Dr Allan has provided invaluable leadership in ensuring FIAL’s activities remained focused on catalysing the growth of the Australia’s Food and Agribusiness sector. One of her greatest legacies at FIAL is the inception and delivery of Project 2030 – the A$200 billion opportunity for the Australian food and agribusiness sector.
