Global industrial automation company Omron has appointed Henry Zhou as managing director for its operations in the Oceania Region.

Zhou, who is currently general manager of Omron Oceania (Australia and New Zealand), will take up the new position from 1 April this year.

He succeeds current Omron Oceania MD Greg Field, who is retiring after 17 years in the role.

Zhou joined Omron in 1998 in Singapore before he moved to Sydney, and has held several leadership roles with the company. He is a qualified engineer (automation) and holds an MBA (Management and Marketing) from RMIT University.

Zhou said he is "honoured to lead Omron Oceania into the next decade through its next phase of growth".

“Today, we are at the doorstep of the 4th Industrial Revolution. It will change the world fundamentally,” he said. “This exciting new era presents outstanding opportunities for a broad range of industry sectors.

“Through our innovative technology and global industry strategy, Omron is well positioned to take a lead in our market.

“I look forward to leading the company to new performance heights as we partner with business to develop innovative and cost-effective Industry 4.0 solutions.”

Zhou thanked Field for his outstanding achievements in his 28 years of service with Omron. “I wish Greg all the best for the future. During the past 20 years, he has been a great leader, mentor and friend.”

Field, in turn, congratulated Zhou on the appointment. “I feel Oceania is in a strong position with a good management team which will now be led by Henry Zhou.

“Henry has a wealth of experience in management and engineering and a strong record of leadership,” Field said.
