Barossa wine producer Saltram is releasing some special commemorative wines to mark its 160th anniversary.

To honour this milestone, Saltram will release two award-winning wines, a Special Rare Anniversary Edition Tawny and a 2016 Angaston Road Single Vineyard Estate Grown Shiraz, both said to be fine examples of full-bodied type Barossa wines wines produced over the years from the vines that have been planted and cultivated at the vineyard.

Saltram winemaker Alex MacKenzie, the 10th winemaker in the history of the brand, says he is passionate about continuing Saltram's rich winemaking tradition that began nearly two centuries ago when William Salter and his son discovered the region and recognised its potential for wine growing.

“For over 160 years, Saltram has celebrated the heritage and tradition behind the Barossa Valley, making flagship red wines of great style and taste,” MacKenzie said. “I feel honoured to be able to continue this legacy that began over 160 years ago, and I want to ensure we continue to produce wines that are as superb and unique for years to come.”

McKenzie says Saltram will continue to explore different varieties and sub-regions as well as bring new ideas to the current wine portfolio by making use of mature vineyards, advanced technology and an ever-evolving understanding of winemaking,
