Sanitarium is the first major brand in the Australian cereal category to launch a dedicated gluten free variant of its product, Gluten Free Weet-Bix, which is made from Sorghum.

According to Sanitarium, Gluten Free Weet-Bix looks and tastes like Weet-Bix original and demand for the product is so strong, the product is selling out in multiple stores.

Weet-Bix Gluten Free is made with sorghum, an ancient grain which is naturally gluten free, and has a 96 per cent wholegrain content.

Sorghum originated from north?eastern Africa, and according to Sanitarium, it was first grown in Queensland in 1938 and then in NSW in 1940. It is now the main summer cereal crop grown in northern Australia.
