SKYY Vodka has launched new smart-tech glassware to show support for marriage equality in the lead up to Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
The glasses are part of its the brand's #CheerstoEquality campaign which aims to challenge the status quo in Australia by giving people the opportunity to have their voices heard through the smart-tech glassware.
Using the new technology, consumers can show their support for the LGBT+ community by clinking glasses. The moment that the two ‘smart glasses’ make contact, a photo is automatically taken of the holders and a digital signature petitioning support for marriage equality is sent through Twitter using #auspol.
Six of the smart glasses will also be available at Swanson Hotel, Erskineville and The Horse, Surry Hills throughout March.
SKYY Vodka has its roots in San Francisco, a home to innovation, open-mindedness and inclusion, and its owner, Gruppo Campari, says the aim of the #CheerstoEquality campaign paired with the smart-tech glassware is to trigger positive change in the Australian community and beyond.
TV presenter and comedian Joel Creasey attended the launch of the technology at Darlinghurst's The Flinders Hotel, close to where the Mardi Gras parade will be held on Saturday.
SKYY Vodka’s marketing director, Nicole Stanners, said, "We know there are many people who would like to do more to support marriage equality in Australia and we hope we are not only giving a voice to supporters but also driving change so people can marry the person they love, regardless of gender.”
SKYY Vodka has also partnered with just.equal, an Australian community campaign to advocate for justice and equality for LGBTIQ Australians their families, friends and communities. $1.00 from every SKYY Vodka product sold nationwide during March 2017 will be donated to just.equal.
