Suntory Oceania has named chef and social media personality, Andy Hearnden, as the first brand ambassador for Suntory BOSS Coffee in Australia and New Zealand.

Suntory BOSS Coffee launched in the Australian and New Zealand markets in late 2021, and since then, it has become the leading canned coffee beverage across both countries, holding the largest share of the RTD coffee market – 53.9 per cent in Australia and 66.6 per cent in New Zealand.

Originally divided into alcohol brand, Beam Suntory, and non-alcohol brand, Frucor Suntory, Suntory’s beverage divisions are combining to form Suntory Oceania, a move that was kicked off in September with the start of production at its new $400 million multi-beverage manufacturing plant in Ipswich, Queensland.

Frucor Suntory’s Josh Wheeler discussed the rise of the RTD coffee market in an article for Food & Drink Business last year, as a convenient and evolving product.

In the ready to drink (RTD) coffee category, taste has emerged as one of the top unprompted needs for consumers, a demand that Suntory BOSS Coffee aims to meet with its distinctive flavours, including Iced Double Espresso, Iced Latte, Iced Vanilla Latte, Iced Caramel Latte, Rainbow Mountain Blend and Iced Long Black.

Known online as Andy Cooks, Hearnden is a culinary creator with over 4.2 million Instagram followers, 5 million YouTube subscribers, and a cookbook. Suntory stated he was someone who knows the value of hard-work and drive, representing the ambition that Suntory BOSS Coffee seeks to inspire.

“I’ve been a Suntory BOSS Coffee fan for years, so getting to partner with them was a no- brainer,” said Hearnden.

“The Iced Long Black has always been my favourite – it has that real coffee kick I need to keep up with everything I’m working on. I’m thrilled to be working together to share the ambition and great taste that Suntory Boss Coffee is all about.”

The collaboration has kicked off with a series of dynamic-driven ads showcasing Hearnden’s career journey and aiming to portray Suntory BOSS Coffee as the perfect fuel for ambitious go-getters.

Suntory Boss Coffee’s head of Oceania market execution said the company was excited to team up with someone who truly knows the power of ambition and the taste of success.

“Andy doesn’t just represent great food; he’s a testament to relentless drive and creativity—values at the heart of Suntory BOSS Coffee,” they said.

The initiative, now set to become standard practice, is projected to save 15 tonnes of plastic annually.
